A loving tribute from his son.

It has been MANY years since this book was published, and given that Mr. Scott never gave interviews, it is the most complete glimpse into the life of this famous actor.
This is not a biography. You won't find a play-by-play mention of movies, or a book filled with gossip about other star's lives. There isn't any hatred in the book, no pining for what might have been. Rather, this is a tribute by a son about the values of his father, actor and businessman Randolph Scott.
C.H. Scott so aptly describes the way he was raised --with great care, consideration, and patience. What the reader takes away is that Randolph Scott was a gentleman, husband, and father above being an actor and producer. Above all, this is a terrific look at how as a parent , Randolph Scott handled his rambunctious son, and how-- patience, consistency, and love (even in the toughest of times) would not only be the right solution, in the end, teach the most lessons.
While the media --from Vanity Fair to bloggers, have pointedly ignored this book in favor of pushing out unsubstantiated rumors, C.H. Scott also clears the air about the alleged affair between Cary Grant and Mr Scott. According to him, they're untrue. The rumors started when a male nurse, in the last months of Mr Scott's life, stole an album of publicity stills. These stills of the two men, were posed at the direction of a studio publicist in anticipation of a new film. These photos are now touted as "truth" by mainstream media and blogs characterizing the two as a couple. If anything, what they show is a fun friendship between the two men.
Readers will be pleasantly surprised that this is an account of a very thoughtful man's life, and how he positively affected the son he raised.

David Meyers is a supervisor at Columbus State Community College and is the author of numerous local histories, as well as two musical and other works for the stage. David received his BA from Miami University and his MBA from the Ohio State University. He was featured in an episode of the Discovery Canada/A&E series "Curious and Unusual Deaths."

Elise Meyers Walker is an author and an administrator at the Ohio Board of Regents. She has co-authored six previous books with her father, David, and is frequently called upon to make presentations to various groups. Elise has appeared in an episode of the Discovery ID series "Tabloid." She received her BA from Hofstra University.

Columbus' Underbelly Laid Bare

After spending forty years of my life in Columbus, this book still managed to surprise and even shock me. Riots, bombings, gambling, prostitution, world-renowned corruption, and even serial "ripper." Yep, at certain times, the heart of Ohio was as black as coal and just as hard. I recommend this volume to anyone who wants to side step the usual tour down memory lane and get right to the nasty stuff.

Wicked Columbus inspires hometown pride

This page-turner by David Meyers and Elise Meyers Walker turned me on to a whole new genre of reading: non-fiction. Sympathetic yet unsentimental, they transform extensive research into characters who could star in novels and movies.

With newfound braggadocio, this book inspires me to tell friends and neighbors in New Jersey, “My hometown was once like freakin’ ‘Gangs of New York!’” The “Sopranos?” That’s HBO. We had Maurice Patrick Murnan. “House of Cards?” That’s Netflix. We had Harry M. Daugherty. Until reading this book, I thought “Badlands” was just a Bruce Springsteen song.

Thanks to this father-daughter duo, I have a newfound interest in history and sordid appreciation for the can-do attitude of those who helped shape Ohio’s state capital and influence the nation.

About the Author
Rudi Dallos is a psychologist who has been involved in systemic family therapy for over twenty years. He was previously with the Open University where he had written various texts on family life and relationships. He is currently a lecturer in clinical psychology and a consultant clinical psychologist specializing in therapeutic work with eating disorders, adult mental health and couples therapy. He has written several previous books utilizing both his research and clinical experiences, including: Family Belief Systems, Couples, Sex and Power and Interacting Stories.

Ros Draper is a senior therapist and teacher who has made major contributions to the development of family therapy and systemic practice in Britain over the last 25 years. As Senior Clinical Lecturer at The Tavistock Clinic, London, and The Institute of Family Therapy, London, she has worked in both adult and child psychiatric settings. In 1988 Ros co-founded the influential Systemic Thinking and Practice Book Series and her title Teaching Family Therapy (1993) remains a key text in the field. More recently Ros has developed ways of using family therapy and systemic practice in primary care and educational settings and, in addition to her private practice, is a member of the teaching and therapy team at the renowned Family Institute, Cardiff and at the Juniper Centre, an Eating Disorders Service in Southampton.

Magical Book about a Vital Subject

In mental health counseling, and the psychological therapy, we so often forget, amidst our clinical concerns and methods of intervention, that we are always dealing ultimately and finally with a conversation. Therapy takes place through the exchange of words, where every utterance carries multiple meanings and immense power. This is the magic that the author explores in this remarkable book, reminding us at the same time that Freud, though flawed, was right to observe this magical power of words and draw it to our attention. Highly recommended for ant psychological therapist, from any orientation.

It was kind of entertaining, but it's not helpful if you are planing on applying to be a real special agent. It's written for someone who has already passed the tests to be an agent and I guess the FBI already has their own orientation books and courses. Also, the information is quit outdated. Don't recommend it.

About the Author
Jay D. Gatrell is Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies and member of the geography faculty. Previously, he served as associate dean for budget & research in the College of Arts & Sciences. Jay has held appointments as the social science education, interim sociology chair, and an administrative fellow. Additionally, he serves as the editor of Applied Geography (2008-present) and the Book Review Editor (2006-2010) for The Professional Geographer, series co-editor for Springer’s Geo-Technologies and the Environment, and on the editorial boards of The Professional Geographer (2005-2008), RSAI's Regional Science Policy & Practice (2008-present), Open Journal of Geography (2007-present), and The Industrial Geographer (2002-present). In 2007, Dr. Gatrell was recognized by the Association of American Geographers' Regional Development Planning Specialty Group as a Distinguished Scholar and was awarded ISU’s faculty award for the Community-based Scholarship.
Prior to coming to ISU, he held the position of Assistant Professor of Geography at Wright State University and served as a Faculty Associate at the WSU Center for Urban and Public Affairs during the 1999-2000 academic year. He earned a Ph.D. in geography from West Virginia University, M.A. in geography at The University of Toledo, and a B.S., magna cum laude, in political science from Eastern Michigan University. While in graduate school, he served as a teaching assistant (1994-1995 UT, 1996-1997 WVU), GIS research assistant/intern (1995-1996, UT GIS Center), and research assistant/associate for WV EPSCoR program (1997-1999).

It covers much more than just codeigniter but good practice of PHP OOP programming

I was thrilled by reading this book. It covers much more than just codeigniter but good practice of PHP OOP programming , naming conventions.
I addition it provide a lot of useful and advanced approach using latest Codeigniter Plugins such as the Sparks, integration with client side CSS/Javascript of the Bootstrap framework, and more.
More then that it provides vast of good and practical examples of using the Codeigniter platform with various plugins in a very clear manner and bright explanations. I wish there were more books like this one.
